S Yairi model YW 12 c 1972
YW 12
So here’s a cool guitar in outrageously good condition for its age.
An S Yairi YW12 dreadnought.
This was the budget model but still a very impressive build from Nagoya Japan’s most famous guitar making city under the supervision of Sado Yairi or possibly his son Hiroshi – either way it is a product bearing the name of one of Japans most revered guitar makers.
It’s a bright and responsive dreadnought – an amazing guitar for flatpicking but also loud and clear for strumming , fairly obviously based on a D18 .
Its 50 years old !
It looks 2 years old !
Whoever has owned this must have kept it in its case and just taken it out for special occasions, then cleaned it and put it back again. It’s actually hard to believe the guitar was built in the early 70s – its amazing.
I know it can be a bit of a trek to Haywards Heath , but it’s worth a visit just to buy this . If you really can’t make it but want to hear it , send me an email and I’ll reply with a personal short video showing any details you’d like to see and giving it a play .
