1993 Fender Strat MIM CAR

(yup 31 years old) this really is a very cool Mexican strat.

The first Mexican Strats arrived in the UK c1991. The bodies and Necks were shipped from Fenders USA Corona plant and the guitars were assembled in Mexico.

The MIJ guitars revolutionised the Fender range and slowly grew to be a major part of Fenders production, still going strong today in 2024.

This particular one is really quite remarkable. It’s a stunner – We can only assume that the lacquer over the Candy Apple Red has dulled ever so slightly giving it an amazing vintage sheen. The condition generally is good but there are a few battle scars generally adding to the whole player’s grade vibe. Add the fading white of the control knobs and you really have a bit of a handsome beast!

The neck is a slim C profile; the sound is even across the pickups (neck p/up is a replacement we believe). It weighs in at a perfect 7.2 lbs. Fretwear is negligible.

One of the oldest Mexican Strats you’ll come across (only the 3^rd year of production) and looking great!
