1977 Black Strat

in a galaxy far away . . . . .

1977 USA Fender Stratocaster - Black

Well. here’s a cool looking guitar with a cool story!

This one began life as a white /blonde start and was painted black pretty early in its life. How do we know that – well it was black when we sold it to its last owner 25 years ago. Yes, this one has come home after a quarter of a century, with a few battle scars that now reveal its true identity – so shall we call it black over factory white? whatever it is it’ s great looking.

Shall I mention The Edge at this point? No, everyone knows about The Edge’s strat . . . carry on . . .

It weighs in at 8 and a half pounds – not bad for a late 70s and has that great funky clarity associated with these models (the neck pick up was rewound by Kent Armstrong when we last had it – bit fatter for those jazzy neck tones) and it really plays very well. The first day we bought it I left it on a stand in the shop and the first thing anyone said about it was ‘wow- this plays like a dream ‘.. so . . . that was before I set it up!

Bad bits? not many, the back plate is white and should be black, the case is USA Fender but a couple of years younger.

Nope- this is a great strat – feels great, soun

ds great – looks amazing for nearly 40 years old – will soon be a true vintage piece - rock and roll!
